Garages and external waterproofing
A typical garage build includes a concrete base and earth retaining walls formed with masonry. Masonry retaining walls are permeable, and typically these structures are tanked externally with adhesive bitumen sheet membranes or similar barrier based waterproofing systems.
Any barrier based waterproofing system must be perfect (100% free of defects) in order to exclude water, and where you combine a tanking membrane with such a permeable structure, there is complete reliance on the membrane in that the structure provides little resistance. Cont.
Grade?
What grade of environment is required for a garage? How dry does it need to be? This is a decision for the Client, and principally dependent upon your intended use.
Finishes?
As per the photos on this page, we can finish garages to quite a higher standard, creating bright dry space.
New-Build?
While much of what we do in garages is remedial work, we can also design systems to ensure a dry bright space in new-build garages.

Cavity drainage waterproofing for garages
Digging down external of a structure to try and locate defects in an external tanking barrier, typically isn't a practical or successful repair method (we often get called in after this has been attempted), and the solution is generally just to integrate cavity drainage waterproofing for a right first time solution. What we design then influences the finished product.
